Report launch event by the Commission on the Integration of Refugees
It was our pleasure to attend the launch event of the report From Arrival to Integration: Building Communities for Refugees and for Britain and play our role (Mishka as commissioner, as well as A&M Consultancy, going through the report from the lived experience lens) in shaping 16 recommendations to shape a new future for the UK’s asylum system based on integration.
It was very positive to see such a diverse environment united by the idea of supporting refugee integration in the UK—highlighting the issues and offering crucial solutions that are realistic and life-changing for thousands of people and the UK. We listened to interesting speeches and detailed information about the recommendations.
The event was also fantastic for meeting new people and reconnecting with our stakeholders. We had lots of professional and informal chats, laughs and positive emotions.
Well, we never come back without adventures! We had only 4 minutes before the last train to Manchester, and our last underground stop was Euston Square. Mishka will admit that Ana is a fantastic runner even with a reconstructed knee apart from when she lost her shoe while rushing into the Euston station, and we had a few seconds to delay finding it. ))))
Eventually, we made it. The railway staff was very supportive, and we got on the 1st class coach as they were the closest. But we were only allowed to enter the 1st class to reach our coach, not stay there, sadly.
